On various freelancer platforms you can find different offers for the preparation of US tax returns. Often for a small fee. These offers do not always, but still often, come from dubious providers who offer their services for a fee without permission from the IRS. In short, many providers operate illegally to our knowledge.

Our test of two providers

We tested two providers of tax services on a freelance platform and had them complete Form 1120 and 5472. Result:

The first service provider filled out the returns partially incorrectly and also unprofessionally. It goes without saying that such declarations are subject to closer scrutiny by the IRS – with unpleasant queries if necessary.

The second provider made catastrophic mistakes and filled out the declaration 5472 in such a way that the LLC would no longer have been a disregarded entity!
